Entry 005 Inspirations

I started this blog out of a search for inspiration for my fictional writing. I found a great site Science Fiction and other Ruminations (link on home page) and was really excited to participate in a project like that. Unfortunately, they were not interested in outside collaborators and therefore, I had to start my own site. I know that at the beginning there will be a lot of typing into the void. Sometimes, I feel like a lone survivor in an escape pod or a castaway on a deserted island, “to whomever reads these words in the future…”

But, these ideas must find their way out of my mind, to be read and interpreted and evaluated. Some may be crap, but others? Last night I had a very vivid dream, it was post-apocalyptic, I assume because that is one of the topics for next months’ post. The essence of the dream was that I was the action-hero on a convoy, and I was riding a mobile crane, a real big sucker. I don’t recall seeing that before. The rest of the dream is standard tropes, but I found a way to add a new spin. Look forward to that story on Cosmic Ink very soon.

I thank the people who have visited the site and had a look. I hope that y’all will come back soon. I still have more content than time and it will be a long road to reach a satisfactory destination. But the road should never end, but the stops along the way are hopefully memorable. I need to polish my writing skills, and this is the vehicle for me. I need to find my people as there are so many different styles and perspectives my tribe is out there. I have faith and therefore will continue on this journey.

I have also been journeying more into AI generated art to generate visuals for the science fiction and fantasy stories in my mind, to be a creative expression of mental images. Hopefully, these will inspire others as much as me and I look forward to different perspectives and creative interpretations as that forms the backbone of fictional writing. Have a look on the about page under my biography. Stay patient and return soon as I update the site regularly. There are great things in the future. Until then stay safe and be kind. – Jim Cobb
